The Yonex EZONE 105 (8th Gen) is the "oversize" powerhouse of the 2025/2026 EZONE lineup. While the 100SL is a lightweight version of the standard head size, the 105 increases the surface area to provide a more forgiving response and easier access to depth. It is designed primarily for doubles players, recreational seniors, or beginners who want maximum comfort and a massive sweet spot.
The 8th Generation features the "Blast Blue" colorway and focuses on a "smoother" feel and enhanced ball pocketing.
New 8th Generation Enhancements
- Minolon Technology: This generation integrates ultra-thin, flexible fibers into the shaft. These fibers act as a high-performance dampener, significantly reducing the "jarring" sensation on off-center hits compared to the 7th Gen.
- Inverted Frame Structure: Yonex has updated the frame geometry with a new groove on the inner portion. This allows the racquet to flex more naturally upon impact, increasing ball pocketing by 6% for better control over where the ball lands.
- Thickened Upper Hoop: The beam is slightly thicker at the top of the head compared to the previous version, which enhances stability and prevents the racquet from twisting when you're stretched out wide or at the net.
Performance Highlights
- The "Isometric" Advantage: Because of the 105 sq. in. square head shape, the sweet spot feels closer to a 110 sq. in. traditional round racquet. It is exceptionally forgiving if your timing isn't perfect.
- Doubles Performance: This racquet shines at the net. The 275g weight makes it fast enough for reflex volleys, while the 105 head provides a "shield" like feel for blocking back heavy shots.
- Power & Depth: With a 26.5mm beam, the racquet does most of the work. It is ideal for players with shorter, more compact swings who need the racquet to provide the pace.
How it compares to the EZONE 100SL
- While the weights are similar (275g vs 270g), the 105 is significantly more stable and powerful due to the larger head size and slightly thicker beam. The 100SL is better for those who want a more traditional "player's racquet" shape to practice full, fast swings, whereas the 105 is about efficiency and ease of use.
