The Luxilon ALU Power 115 Silver is the thinnest commercially available gauge in the legendary ALU Power family. By utilizing an ultra-thin 18-gauge (1.15 mm) diameter, this string maximizes the performance traits of the classic "Big Banger" formula, trading some durability for significantly enhanced feel and spin potential.

Performance Profile

  1. Enhanced Feel & Touch: The 1.15 mm gauge provides a much "plushier" feel compared to the standard 125. It offers a deeper connection to the ball, making it easier to execute touch shots, volleys, and drop shots.
  2. Maximum Spin: The thinner profile allows the string to bite deeper into the ball's felt. This results in higher RPMs and a more pronounced "snap-back" effect, helping players pull the ball down sharply into the court.
  3. Increased Live Power: Because the thinner string is more elastic, it provides a slightly livelier, more powerful response than its thicker counterparts, making it easier to generate depth on defensive shots.
  4. Consistent Response: Like the rest of the line, it uses a poly-ether-ether construction with aluminum fibers, making it completely impervious to atmospheric changes like humidity or heat.

Best Suited For

  1. Precision Baseliners: Players who prioritize ball-pocketing and "feel" but still want the control and predictability of a polyester.
  2. Dense String Patterns: An excellent choice for racquets with 18x20 string patterns (like the Wilson Blade or Head Prestige), where a thinner gauge is needed to open up the string bed for better spin and power.
  3. Hybrid Enthusiasts: Often used as a cross-string in a hybrid setup (paired with Natural Gut or Multifilament) to add control and spin without making the overall string bed feel too stiff or heavy.
  4. Non-Frequent Breakers: Players who don't typically break 17-gauge strings will benefit from the performance boost here; however, heavy hitters may find they break this 18-gauge version quite quickly.
