The HEAD Speed MP UL 2026 ("Ultra-Light") is the lightest and most maneuverable model in HEAD’s 2026 Speed family. Created in response to player demand for a super-light frame with a traditional 100 sq. in. head size, the Speed MP UL offers an ideal entry point into the Speed line for beginners, up-and-coming juniors, and adult club players who prioritize ease of swing and arm comfort.

For 2026, it features HEAD’s Hy-Bor technology—incorporating high-grade boron fibers into the carbon shaft to enhance frame stability—alongside Auxetic 2.0 for soft vibration dampening and direct impact feedback.

Performance Profile

  1. Maneuverability & Speed: Exceptional. Weighing just 265 g (unstrung), the MP UL is ultra-easy to whip through the contact zone. This fast pick-up feel helps players with developing mechanics or slower swing speeds generate rapid racquet-head acceleration.
  2. Sweet Spot & Forgiveness: High. The 100 sq. in. head delivers a generous sweet spot, ensuring off-center contact maintains solid ball depth without causing uncomfortable twist in the hand.
  3. Control & Trajectory: Balanced. Unlike oversized beginner frames, the standard 100 sq. in. hoop and 16x19 Speed string pattern offer a familiar, controllable launch angle to build consistent groundstrokes.
  4. Stability & Feel: Solid for its weight class. The inclusion of Hy-Bor composite material in the shaft prevents torsional flutter on off-center hits, while Auxetic 2.0 provides a smooth, arm-friendly response.
  5. Power: Accessible. Supported by a constant 23 mm Speed Beam and Power Grommets, it provides effortless depth without requiring heavy physical effort from the shoulder or wrist.

Best Suited For

  1. Juniors Transitioning to Adult Racquets: Young competitive players stepping up from 25- or 26-inch junior frames who need full-size playability without taking on heavy weight.
  2. Beginners & Early Intermediates: New tennis players looking for a forgiving, light frame that encourages fast technique development and easy point construction.
  3. Arm-Sensitive & Senior Players: Hitters seeking a lightweight, arm-friendly frame that eliminates joint strain on the elbow, shoulder, or wrist during long practice sessions.
  4. Players Wanting Standard Head Size in Light Weight: Anyone who prefers a traditional 100 sq. in. control-oriented head shape rather than an oversized head, but wants a 265 g static weight.
