The HEAD Speed MP L 2026 (Light) is the lighter, faster, and more maneuverable sibling of the flagship Speed MP. Built with a standard 100 sq. in. head size and an unstrung mass of 285 g, it gives developing players, strong juniors, and arm-conscious adults access to the Speed line's signature blend of power, control, and spin without demanding heavy physical strength.

For 2026, HEAD introduced Hy-Bor technology—integrating aerospace-grade boron fibers alongside high-modulus carbon into the shaft—and combined it with Auxetic 2.0. This update increases structural stability on off-center hits while providing a crisp, direct, and arm-friendly feel at ball contact.

Performance Profile

  1. Maneuverability & Speed: Outstanding. At 285 g unstrung, the frame moves effortlessly through the air, allowing players with medium swing speeds to generate fast head speed for baseline depth and quick reaction volleys at the net.
  2. Stability & Touch: Superior for a Light Frame. The Hy-Bor shaft construction minimizes frame twisting on off-center impact, giving block returns and defensive slices a solid, planted feel.
  3. Spin Potential: Very Good. Its open 16x19 string pattern paired with Power Grommets allows maximum string movement and snapback, helping shape shots with heavy topspin clearance.
  4. Control & Trajectory: Predictable. Features a traditional 100 sq. in. shape and constant 23 mm beam, delivering a consistent launch angle that builds stroke confidence.
  5. Feel & Comfort: Arm-Friendly & Direct. With a soft flex rating (~61 RA) and Auxetic 2.0 extended into the handle, shock absorption is excellent, keeping wrist and elbow strain low during long play sessions.

Best Suited For

  1. Rising Intermediates & Adult Club Players: Players upgrading from beginner or sub-280g frames who want improved stability and control without jumping to a heavy 300g frame.
  2. Advanced Juniors Moving to Full-Size Frames: Young competitive players transitioning into an adult 27.0-inch racquet with fast handling characteristics.
  3. Players Seeking Arm Health & Speed: Anyone needing a comfortable, flexible 100 sq. in. frame that is gentle on joint tissues.
  4. Platform Customization: Intermediate players who want a light base frame to strategically add tungsten/lead weight to the hoop or handle as their game develops.
