The Dunlop Elite Singles (Hard Ball) is a specialized piece of equipment designed for the American Hardball Singles game. While "Softball" (the international standard) is more common today, Hardball Singles remains a fast-paced, high-impact version of the sport that requires a ball with significantly different physics.

A 12-Ball Box is the standard bulk purchase for competitive players and clubs, providing a consistent supply of balls for a game where equipment wear is rapid.

Hardball Physics & Feel

Unlike the squishy, matte rubber of a standard Pro (Double Yellow Dot) ball, the Elite Singles ball is:

  • Hard-Shelled: It features a rigid, high-density rubber construction.
  • Pressurized: The ball is pressurized to provide an immediate, lively bounce without needing to be "warmed up" through hitting.
  • Size: It is slightly smaller (approximately 37mm in diameter) than a standard squash ball (40mm).

High-Speed Performance

  • The "Ping": Hardballs are famous for the distinct "ping" sound they make off the wall, traveling at much higher velocities than international softball.
  • Flight Path: The ball is designed to be extremely fast through the air but "dead" off the floor, requiring players to have incredible footwork and fast hands.

Visibility

  • Color: These balls are typically white (for use on dark-walled courts) or red/blue (for use on glass or white courts), ensuring high visibility at the high speeds typical of the hardball game.

Why a 12-Ball Box?

  • Surface Wear: In Hardball, the "grip" of the rubber is vital for trick shots and nicks. Once the ball becomes "shiny" or smooth from friction against the walls, it is discarded. A 12-pack ensures you always have a "grippy" ball ready.
  • Durability: Because the ball is rigid, it is susceptible to cracking or "splitting" when hit at high speeds against a corner. Having a full box is essential for tournament play.
  • Value: Buying the dozen box is significantly more economical for regular players than buying individual balls.
