The Babolat Jet Mach I All Court is the original model that launched the Jet Mach series, designed specifically for aggressive movers who prioritize a lightweight, "low-to-the-ground" feel without losing the support needed for high-level play.
While the series has since evolved into the Mach II and Mach III, the Mach I remains a benchmark for combining speed and comfort.
Core Technologies
- Matryx SL Upper: This is the defining feature of the Mach I. The upper is made of a unique, one-piece technical fabric woven with Kevlar and Polyamide fibers. This provides incredible lateral stability and durability while remaining much lighter than traditional synthetic leather or heavy plastics.
- Active Flexion: Babolat’s patented outsole technology segments the sole into 9 key pressure points. This allows the shoe to remain highly responsive and agile, providing maximum precision and speed during rapid direction changes.
- KPRS-X Heel Cushioning: To handle the shock of hard court play, the Mach I uses a high-quality EVA foam pad with a specific shape and orientation to protect the heel during landing.
- Michelin Performance Outsole: Created in partnership with Michelin, the outsole uses a DIN 35 compound that is exceptionally durable. The "S" tread pattern is optimized for the aggressive footwork required on all court surfaces.
Performance Breakdown
- Weight vs. Stability: The Mach I was revolutionary because it didn't sacrifice stability to achieve its light weight. The Kevlar inserts in the upper act like a "cage" for the foot, preventing stretching during hard lateral cuts.
- Responsiveness: Because the shoe is so light and low to the ground, the "court feel" is exceptional. You can feel exactly where your foot is positioned, which is a major advantage for counter-punchers and net-rushers.
- Break-in Time: Thanks to the woven Matryx SL material, the Mach I generally requires very little break-in time compared to more rigid, stability-first shoes.
Comparison Note
If you are used to the newer Jet Mach 3, you will find the Mach I has a slightly more "raw" and connected feel to the court. The Mach 3 has moved toward a more refined cushioning system (KPRS-X 2) and an updated weave (Matryx EVO), but the Mach I is often still sought after by players who prefer the specific "locked-in" feel of the original Kevlar blend.
